People can get it wrong, even scientists ( & even me!).
I'm not a climate "denier", but I'm also incredibly skeptical of people making concrete statements about things that are really, really difficult to measure over long periods of time, and then projecting all that into the future. Are climate things getting worse? Sure, I can accept that pretty easily, for some definitions of worse.
We also have had millennia of doomsayers and prophets - read more here. So far, it's been people that are so filled with their own self-importance they just keep redefining dates/events/whatever until they die, or something like the prediction occurs and they declare victory, even though it's not what they originally claimed.
I feel like that's all fair to say but we're seeing measurable impacts right now and the scientific consensus on climate change and it's effects is both broad and conclusive. We know that we are changing (heating) the environment faster than animal and plant species can adapt. We know it's leading up to a mass extinction event based on historical temperatures and how it impacted the planet and its inhabitants. We know we depend on these ecosystems now and for the foreseeable future. We know that melting sea ice is going to lead to dramatic sea level rise. I don't think humanity as a species is doomed and I don't envision some grand apocalyptic event from a film but I do know we're going to be fighting over what's left. The arable land, the fresh water and the resources in general. We know because we've fought massive wars over less. That was with more resources available to far fewer people too. I think that's going to mean a lot less people on the planet.
Anyways I'm not a tree hippy or something, I just recognize that we can change this and while some dramatic action is needed, we've done it before and can do it again. Obviously it was easier to ban CFCs than it is to wean an entire planet off burning and using fossil fuels but things are going to be a lot more comfortable and survivable if we at least try.

Look like it can be watch without giving up your soul? https://play.history.com/shows/revelation-the-end-of-days
As for dogs taking over the world, that's already been tried and it was a failure.

Well, with the exception of dogs. We should build an automated ark that reseeds life for dogs and let them take over the planet.

Ha!
Weirdly enough, I recently watched a fairly interesting take on "The Rapture" in a two part series called Revelation - The End of Days. It aired on the History Channel (I know, I know. No aliens, Nazis, Templars, Masons, or Illuminati were involved, promise) back in 2014. It was a pretty well-done take on the mythology.

Man prises crocodile's jaws off his head at Australian resort. Am I the only one smelling a fourth Crocodile Dundee movie? It is either that or, more likely, bad crocodile breath.

For anyone reading these words who is under the age of 30, I sincerely wish you the best of luck. The odds are your retirement years will not be as laid back and easy as mine have been.
