That would be cool. I'm guessing it will run pretty well in VR, too.
Stop both of you, I'm already too stoked without that.

Oooh.. It'd be even better if they had mods were SHODAN would mess with your vision/sound... Just little backdoor hacking attempts that screw with audio/video input. Little taunting whispers.

Game looks and plays much better than the beta demo. Love that it has a generous FOV setting.

Yeah, need to install this tonight.

I have such fond memories of being scared shitless in the original, dreading having to return to a level that was a nightmare the first time.

It does sound like they have fixed the problems of the original (mostly due to lack of horsepower back then): Controls, inventory, and I like the idea of the recycler which I really loved in Prey. Give me some cash for some of that useless crap I'm lugging around!

Been playing it today, so far it is amazing. Game of the Year for sure and a breath of fresh air, probably the best immersive sim I've ever seen or played.

Relatively small install footprint as well, which is nice. 3.8GB download. 8.3GB installed.

I'm glad that ACG appeared first on this list because it's the only one I am going to watch/read anyway.

The Enhanced version of SS1 is perfectly playable on modern systems. No fiddling required, just install and start.
What about controls? I hated them in the original DOS game back then. Maybe this remake will be better.

SS2 lost me at one point early on where I had robots popping out of crates, no ammo to fight them, and no clue where to go. I wasn't really into the game yet, and just never returned. I should.

Bioshocks 1, 2 and 3 I loved and was engrossed by

I really like the directions that NightDive is headed into these days! Other ND games are due any day now, too, from these guys!
Say what? Didn't you see the news Atari bought them out? Blue had it when it happened but here's a link below too.
I think it's a waste of their talent but who knows. Maybe they can do something amazing with some of the atari IP if one is optimistic.
At least the nightdive guys got a decent payout from the purchase if nothing else. They can always leave and form yet another studio if atari tries to drain their souls for a few years.

Excellent, this is another win for Nightdive (and a much needed first for Atari).

Seeing some negatives about the amount of backtracking and how dark it is (Doom 3 flashlight mod incoming?). Suppose they could have reduced it somewhat but the original System Shock is certainly known for that. Have it on my Steam wishlist plan on getting it at some point soon.

Nah, it's nothing like the Doom 3 flashlight (more like a Broadway spotlight), I can say with the upmost joy...;) This remake will be the version to have, imo--alongside the original if you have it--I do. Great for contrast purposes, but that's about it. The original game is barely playable today (if at all) for sheer technical reasons, but SS2 with the fan patches is eminently playable on my 202x hardware and software, even at my 4k default res. But this one looks to be a better play, imo--and it should be, everything considered. It's like any game--negatives exist, but I like to think of them as mere challenges for me to overcome if at all possible, on my end. "They task me!", etc. I think NightDive, if the guys can keep it together under Atari like they want, will be a developer to watch in the coming years!
It is well known that I cannot err--and so, if you should happen across an error in anything I have written you can be absolutely sure that *I* did not write it!...;)

First quality game release I've seen in a while!...;) (Well, not really the "first," but I wanted to give the game a nice compliment, because I really like the directions that NightDive is headed into these days! Other ND games are due any day now, too, from these guys! It's always a pleasure to spend money and time on 3d computer games that were obvious labors of love for their programmers and development teams!) Will be picking this one up!

It could be just nostalgia, but--nah, it's not...;) It looks to be the definitive version of this classic game. Some reviewers are amusing in writing in glowing terms about the "original game's graphics style," etc...;) Make no mistake, the "graphics style" of the original game was the product of the exceedingly limited and capped GPUs and APIs/OSes/budgets of the day--they did the best they could with what they had at the time, which wasn't much compared with now! I'm not one of these who gets teary-eyed about pixelated graphics being an "art style" in the golden old days. It was never that--it was only the result of bumping up against the technological limits of the 3d-game tech in existence during the game's original LookingGlass development through Origin. Not an "art style"...;) Ugh...;) Good Job NightDive.
It is well known that I cannot err--and so, if you should happen across an error in anything I have written you can be absolutely sure that *I* did not write it!...;)
