Dear players,
We would like to sincerely apologize for the underwhelming experience many of you have had with The Lord of Ring: Gollum™ upon its release. We acknowledge and deeply regret that the game did not meet the expectations we set for ourselves or for our dedicated community. Please accept our sincere apologies for any disappointment this may have caused.
Our goal as a studio, and as passionate The Lord of the Rings fans, has always been to tell a compelling and immersive story-driven adventure. Crafting a story with Middle-earth as our playground has been the greatest honor - and the biggest challenge we have faced so far.

It's Daedalic, I think they'll try their utmost to deliver if at all possible.
I wish them luck.

Want something worse?
I just read they're currently working on ANOTHER LotR game. This really pisses me off. I mean, have some respect for your subject matter. No matter who owns the license, (I think it's Embracer), there ought to be some sort of protection for Tolken's work.
Letting these clowns loose on another Rings game seems like a crime. What will the youth think of Hobbitzes??

Always amazes me how games in such obviously poor shape make it out of the door. They had to know themselves what a poorly coded game this is. Releasing like this hurts them more than if they'd just canceled it, imo.

Developers don't even have to finish a game to get people's money and they know it. It started with pre-purchasing special editions and now people actually PAY for "early access".
So far, 2023 has been the Shit Shoveling year. Just Shoving shitty games and shitty ports out to the public as soon as possible.
This is what you get...And the only reason why the industry doesn't collapse is probably because they figured out they can make more money giving games away for free then actually selling them. Because people have no control over their microtransaction purchases. At least you can't release a f2p game that sucks and expect to make money. Unless, you're Activision/Blizzard and have millions of fan boys.![]()

I don't mean to say that their other games are bad, Barotrauma, Unrailed, Shadow Tactics and Deponia are good game.
RogueSix wrote on May 26, 2023, 21:39:maybe the license fee was charged on a sliding scale? like hey guys, we can't afford to license a game based on numenor or whatever, but we can probably get the gollum or tom bombadil license!
There is so much potential but then they go ahead with a fucking GOLLUM game? Clown world confirmed once again...![]()
