Hey, a surprise update! We got home earlier than I expected, so here we are. Sorry for the confusion.

I don't care how panicked he felt, you can't be in your right mind to do something like that.
When I used to fly a lot, I'm a big tall strong guy, so they're usually happy to give me the emergency exit (leg room!) and I take it seriously and make sure I understand exactly how to open that thing in an emergency, and I would like to think that I would help everybody get out first before I bail (it's recommended you toss the door out to get it out of the way, get out on the wing first yourself, and then help pull people through).

I did not know it was possible to open the doors while in flight.
I guess I never gave it much thought, since the doors open inward (at least initially) it's the pressurized cabin that prevents opening and this plane was below 1000 feet.
