AI will totally respect borders

If I were AI that would be the first human convention to go.

Okay, I'll bite -- where, when, and why did they say that.

Given that AI has been caught blatantly incorporating copyrighted materials, are such laws really so surprising? It also puts the lie to these being actually intelligent capable of inspiration and originality. They're just fancy image recombinators. Definitely cool tech, but no more "AI" than a calculator.

Where - on the sidelines of a panel discussion at University College London
When - Wednesday, May 24th.
Why - Altman said that OpenAI’s skepticism centered on the E.U. law’s designation of “high risk” systems as it is currently drafted, forcing the companies behind them to comply with additional safety requirements.

Typical kneejerk reaction of a beureacracy. How exactly would an AI "infringe" on copyright of it's own volition?

Well Google tells me;
In American English, the phrase "Bye, Felicia" is an informal phrase intended as a dismissive send-off, where the recipient is rendered so unimportant their name is reduced to "Felicia." The phrase originally comes from a scene from Angela Means' character Felicia in the American comedy film Friday.
