The Talos Principle 2 This Year

Devolver Digital announces The Talos Principle 2 will arrive later this year for PC and consoles, offering a puzzle/adventure sequel from Croteam. This is a surprise since we've only heard about this once since its announcement in 2016, and that was when Devolver acquired the game along with Croteam. A new trailer accompanies the news, as do the following details:
Coming to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2023, The Talos Principle II greatly expands on the beloved original with more mind-bending puzzles to solve, new puzzle mechanics, a richer storyline, more secrets to uncover, and the biggest, weirdest world Croteam has ever built.

Set in a distant future where humankind has long been extinct, human culture lives on through interminable robots made in our image. Embarking on a quest to investigate a mysterious megastructure, you will be confronted with questions about the nature of the cosmos, faith versus reason and the fear of repeating humankind's mistakes.

Familiar puzzles will return in The Talos Principle II, accompanied by unique new gameplay including mind transference and gravity manipulation. There's also a deep character-driven story with multiple endings to lose yourself in, and a series of strange, stunningly beautiful environments to explore—including a city on the brink of a paradigm shift and an island holding the keys to the future.

Loved The Talos Principle and highly recommend it, really cool puzzle game with interesting theme and story. My favorite puzzle game next to The Witness. Will get the sequel for sure.

Talos Principle makes you feel like a genius after you solve a puzzle. Though then it makes you immediately feel like an idiot when you can't solve one, lol. Love and hate relationship with the game, though I'm pretty far in it. I got stuck mostly on the puzzles involving where you have to record your action and play it back. Those were highly frustrating puzzles in my opinion.

Regardless, totally looking forward to a sequel.

That pretty much sums it up. It's a game I hate to love, and I will buy this day one because I hate myself. One moment you're on a high after solving a difficult puzzle, then you want to uninstall it, then you figure it out and you're back on that high.

There was one puzzle that really made me hate myself though. It was pretty far into the game, and it had me really stumped. I had solved the main puzzle, but I was trying to get to the extra star. I could see (or I thought I could) what needed to be done, but couldn't figure out how to do it. I ended up skipping it, and finishing the section. I came back, but I was still stumped. I think it was the first time I moved on to another section without completing all the puzzles and extras.

After completing all of the puzzles, before moving on to the end, I went back to collect the extra stars I missed. I managed to get all but that one. I was still completely stumped. I finally put the game down for a few days, and when I came back, I saw the solution. It was so easy, I was just over thinking it. I really hated myself for not seeing it for so long. They did kind of trick you by throwing such an easy puzzle mixed in with some hard one, and on top of that they added a bunch of stuff you didn't need, and it fooled me.
