Announce Trailer for Helldivers 2, an upcoming sequel from Arrowhead
Game Studios to its 2015 top-down shooter. The new game is a third-person
shooter that's said to be coming soon (the clip ends with a 2023 date). As with
many of today's announcements, there's more in the
PlayStation.Blog. Here's the Starship Troopers-style pitch to sign on to
defend Super Earth:
Freedom. Peace. Managed Democracy. Your Super Earth-born rights. The key pillars of our civilization. These are under attack from deadly alien civilizations, conspiring to destroy the Super Earth and its values.
You’ll step into the boots of an elite class of soldiers whose mission is to spread peace, liberty, and Managed Democracy using the biggest, baddest, and most explosive tools in the galaxy. Team up with up to four friends and wreak havoc on the alien scourge that threatens the safety of your home, Super Earth.
The Helldivers must take on the role of galactic peacekeepers in this Galactic War and protect their home planet, spread the message of Democracy, and liberate the hostiles by force.

It's definitely the only game I can think of I'm actually looking forward to this year. I was mostly skeptical about the shift to third person because that's not what Arrowhead has done. It certainly looks like those concerns were unfounded though. Only thing that could go wrong now is if there's some kinda of janky monetization.
They've added so much random stuff to the first game over the years and the way they involve all the players is pretty cool. I'm sure it has been years since I've played it but fond memories for sure.

Helldivers was a blast, one of the few games that you could drop in pubs and expect good players and comradery. I should play the first a bit more since they added some new stuff since I last stopped.
I thoroughly enjoyed coop Helldivers with my dad and a few others. I was skeptical about their intentions but this looks like as direct of a translation as could be. Looks to be way more immersive/cinematic due to the camera angle but they'll have to nail the balance of shooting fun which seems a lot harder in three dimensions.
