Epic Rewards Program Launched

Epic Games announces the launch of the Epic Rewards Program on the Epic Games Store. It is straightforward: as of today, purchases on the store earn 5% of the purchase price back in rewards. Rewards can apply to future purchases and combine with other offers and discounts. Participation does not require any action. All customers are enrolled automatically. Here's more:
Getting started is easy! The new Epic Rewards program is always on, free to join, and requires no sign-up. All Epic Games account holders will be enrolled in the Epic Rewards program at purchase point, so all you have to do is buy any games, apps, add-ons, or virtual currency on the Epic Games Store – even V-Bucks. You’ll automatically earn 5% back in Epic Rewards, which will be added to your Rewards Balance two weeks (14 days) after completing the associated purchase.

Once you receive your Epic Rewards, you can apply them at checkout to get a discount off future eligible purchases, or save them for later. Epic Rewards can also be combined with other discounts and coupons for even better deals. Just keep in mind that Epic Rewards do expire eventually (25 months from the date they were granted to your Rewards Balance, to be exact). Go forth and apply your rewards to find your next favorite game!

This can effectively be considered as an additional 5% discount to games but going forward. For steam points, I have a ton of them, can't figure out how they are useful at all.... For games on both platforms I'll get them on epic, because developers get a better cut. Recently though an indie dev said they prefer steam purchases because it would give them a better ranking and thus more momentum, so...

I wasn't clear enough, apologies. I bring completed downloads of games from Heroic portable into EGS.
By install I meant the game folder is complete and up to date. It just needs EGS to recognise it in order to have a functioning install.

The workaround is to:
  • begin an install
  • allow some downloading

    • stop download
    • copy your complete version over
    • restart download.
EGS is supposed to recognise all the files already exist.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
    I'm probably doing something wrong.

From Epic "Once the download begins, after 2-3% is downloaded click on the three dots next to the game name and click on Cancel Install."

Have you tried giving it more time during the "allow some downloading" step.

5-6% maybe. I understand that may be impossible/undesirable due to limitations (cost, caps etc.) on your home internet.

Improve your launcher ffs. Let me point to an existing install of a game.
I tried the workaround posted by RE9 a few months ago. It did not work.
I'll concede I may have screwed up.

Either way, this is a most basic function that should have been there from the git.
Open Library on left nav, and all installed games should sorted at the top. It's not that different from Steam.

I imagine the meeting that led them to choose that approach went something like this.

What, exactly, do you think marketing is?
Advertising?

Marketing involves advertising, but is more than just advertising.

UbiSoft already has UbiSoft Connect points which you can use to get discounts or to buy rewards. 100 points = 20% discount. You can earn UbiSoft Connect points by buying games but also through leveling up. You level up through an XP system. You gain XP through gameplay and by completing 'Core' or weekly challenges. Only newer Ubi games offer such challenges and thereby the possibility to level up. Older games have deactivated this system but you get all former rewards for free.
Ubi points expire after 24 months so you can not keep them forever and might as well use them on in-game fluff/rewards if you have no use for the 20% discount. My UbiSoft Connect level is 79 and I currently have 650 points in the "bank".

I recently used 100 points for an additional 20% discount on AssCreed Valhalla Complete Edition. It was already on sale and it would have usually sold for €49 but thanks to investing those 100 Ubi points I was able to bring it down to €39.20 which seemed like a fair price for the full shebang.
This doesn't always work. Sometimes Ubi disables the possibility to invest 100 Ubi points for an additional discount when a game is already discounted on sale but when I bought Valhalla it worked.

I'm a very rare EGS customer but I think this is a good move by Epic. Definitely better than a points shop for emojis and stickers at least... Wink

Oh, don't worry! I'm sure UPlay or Uconnect or Ubistore or whatever the fuck they're calling it this week will be doing this. They're already planning on letting you buy a 3d-printed version of your NFT, however that stupid shit works.

I mean hey it's better than handing out Steam Points that you can use to buy stickers with... I can't remember the last time I used Steam Chat (sadly )
Still not gonna buy anything from EGS!
I claimed my first freebies last week with Kao the Kangaroo and Horizon Chase Turbo. Good games for my Steam Deck. Thanks Timmy! hahahahaha

Still haven't spent a single cent on the Epic Store but have managed to amass a several hundred game library anyway, thanks to the frequent freebies.

Also, for some reason, Death Stranding is this week's free game - again. Hasn't even been that long since the first time.
