Those interested won't have to wait long, as it carries a May 2023 Early Access

Welcome to the world of Illal, a planet once thought to be humanity's future utopia, turned into a grim dystopia driven by corporate corruption and greed. Illicit terraforming poisoned the atmosphere and a terrible accident gave birth to the “Giga,” a nanite plague that ravaged half the planet.

I didn't like the speed of the gameplay. It was too quick and twitchy. I was looking for something more deliberate and tactical. But it played like CoD in mechs.
Not that it wasn't fun, but I wouldn't really call it a mech game.

Hawakening is using a build of the game that was before it was bought out by 505. No multiplayer there either, but the test arena still works (vs bots).
Huh, even though the Hawken servers shut down years ago, some enterprising folks were able to bring it back.

Original devs were great, but game stagnated due to money management problems. After 505 Games took over from the original devs, game balance went downhill fast as they ported the game to consoles and tried to go pay-to-win; massively nerfed old mechs, overpowered real-money-only new mechs. They thanked the PC gamers for sticking around for years by shutting down the PC servers but keeping the console servers up. I spent over 1000 hrs on Steam + pre-Steam days, lots of good times, but I don't have much faith in 505 Games. Noticed this new game has no multiplayer, only 5 mechs, only 6 maps.

Hawken was always free to play. It was a pay-to-skip-grind game, plus cosmetics.
Yeah, it was MP only. IIRC, there was some demo or free weekend i played, but never picked it up due to that.

Why did this game shut down in the first place? Just not enough players? I vaguely remember enjoying it (I am pretty sure I got it on a deep sale) but it was multiplayer only?
