The Ally should work well as a budget gaming PC if you hook it up to an external monitor, mouse and keyboard while keeping it plugged in (for power consumption).
7 inch don't need 1080p IMO. And it seems to drain the battery very quickly - in some reviews they are talking about one hour of gaming before it needs to get reloaded. Nevertheless, this is some interesting piece of gaming tech. But the deck (which I own and like) and this need most of all MORE BATTERY POWER. Lots of it.

I predict that it won't come close to the sales of the Deck and it won't be supported for nearly as long as the Deck will be.

1080p @ 120Hz with 95% color gamut at 5ms latency. That destroys the Steam Deck, which only holds an advantage at 10w performance and dual track pads for non-thumbstick games.
The lack of offset sticks (which I totally get due to the touch pads) and low end CPU performance made me pass on the Steam Deck. This seems to have all of the potential I'm looking for and honestly the price is $50 more than the top end Deck which doesn't seem at all unreasonable. Time will tell as to whether or not the support is there as the Steam Deck has had great support and continues to get better.
It’s a deck killer but you pay for that.
