I was trying to figure out why they were calling a conduct policy that had a section against trans abuse as "hateful". Then I realized it was a bad title to the article. On the actual topic, I have to say that people that use abusive language against anyone don't check the website's written policy before using it. I don't care whether or not it's in writing but rather what they do about it when it happens. As usual, journalists and liberals are focusing attention on the part that doesn't matter.
Because ALL platforms for communication should have an explicit listing of rules and a list of what lines once crossed will get people removed. This act is explicitly stating that they will no longer remove people for harassing trans people. That isn't a 'part that doesn't matter'. It's an intentional step towards normalizing attacks against trans people.
