The Florida Man of storms, more than 25 inches of rain drenching and flooding Fort Lauderdale in six to eight hours.
I have effectively dared Mother Nature to flood where I live. I live in central Illinois where the land is very flat, Interstate overpasses are "big hills". I mean, it floods around rivers here... and my yard has "flooded". But my yard flooding means when it reaches a certain point, it flows into the street. For water to come into my home tens of square miles would have to flood first. I have always thought it simply couldn't happen... but 25" of rain in eight hours? I both would and wouldn't like to see that here...
