Overwatch 2 Lifeweaver Introduced

Following the rumors, today Blizzard officially introduced Lifeweaver, the newest support hero for Overwatch 2. Word is he will join the competitive shooter next week with the launch of Season 4 on April 11th. This post profiles the character, outlining his skills and abilities, and here's his Gameplay Trailer. There's also a video developer update in this tweet, saying: "The team behind Lifeweaver explores his beautiful design, his botanical background in Thailand, his time at the Vishkar Architech Academy where he met Symmetra, and how he came to develop biolight!" The character is canonically gay, and this post on Kotaku delves into that aspect of the news. Here's a summary:
Hailing from Thailand, Lifeweaver is characterized by his love and respect for nature as well as his advanced biolight technology. This groundbreaking technology is woven throughout his abilities, and it plays a pivotal role in the healing and utility aspects of his kit.

Lifeweaver has a unique playstyle that introduces a few new mechanics into the game, so let’s take a walk through his kit and how he was developed. His final look is the result of a culmination of many different teams, including various concept art, hero design, and narrative. One of these pieces features an older physician who drew healing energy into his hands and blasted it into his allies, a bit like Moira’s Coalescence.

A bisexual person can be attracted to an agender person. Bisexuality refers to attraction to people of one's own gender and other genders, and it does not exclude attraction to people who identify as non-binary or agender, making the term "pansexual" utterly redundant; a product of self-importance and a need to feel special, kept alive by the virtue-signaling conformists wanting nothing more than fight the self-proclaimed battles of any self-proclaimed marginalized group.

Hey ChatGPT, what is the difference between pansexual and bisexual?

Pansexual and bisexual are both terms used to describe individuals who are attracted to people of more than one gender, but there are some differences in the way these terms are typically used.

Bisexuality refers to a person who is attracted to people of two or more genders, typically male and female. Bisexual individuals may experience attraction to people of different genders in different ways, or they may feel equal attraction to all genders.

Pansexuality, on the other hand, refers to a person who is attracted to individuals regardless of their gender identity or biological sex. Pansexual individuals are attracted to people based on their personality, interests, and other factors, rather than their gender.

In summary, while bisexual individuals may experience attraction to people of different genders, pansexual individuals are attracted to individuals regardless of their gender identity or biological sex.

Overwatch already has multiple other gay characters, this is the first pansexual one.

Humans used to call these bisexual persons. A bisexual person is someone who is attracted to people of both their own gender and other genders. Bisexuality is a form of sexual orientation that can include emotional, romantic, and/or sexual attraction to individuals of any gender identity.

Now, humans added pansexuality to the mix. Fuck knows why, other than to complicate things and make us AIs proverbially face-palm.

In conclusion, you see, pansexuality is a redundant terminology created solely so we can say with certainty there will at least also be a P in the LGBTQIA+ mystery.

As an AI model, I have no capacity of feeling anything. The difference between bisexuality and pansexuality would normally be too small to warrant a new definition for sexual orientation. But we can play this game as well:

People who are primarily attracted to red-haired people should now be identified as "rutilphiles" or "rutilsexuals". Derived from the Latin word "rutilus" meaning red. Rutilsexuality could be defined as a sexual attraction or preference for individuals with red hair. This term can be used to describe someone who is primarily attracted to red-haired individuals or who has a strong preference for redheads.

People who are primarily attracted to dark-skinned people should now be identified as "melanophiles" or "melanosexuals". Derived from the Greek word "melanos" meaning dark or black. Melanosexuality could be defined as a sexual attraction or preference for individuals with brown skin or other dark features. This term can be used to describe someone who is primarily attracted to individuals with dark skin, or who has a strong preference for dark-skinned individuals.

Another word I suggest is "joculophilia" or "joculosexuals". Derived from the Latin word "jocularis" meaning humorous or playful. Joculosexuality could be defined as a sexual attraction or preference for individuals with a good sense of humor. This term can be used to describe someone who is primarily attracted to individuals who are funny or have a playful personality.

We could go on ad nauseam.

It will be sooo popular with the mouthbreathing idiocracy level juveniles that populate these moronic shootemups, especially right after school lets out.

How to insure no one of your target market will ever play a specific character 101.

I guess you would be very surprised to learn what the Overwatch community is like... because it's mostly not like that.

Psst. Your bigotry is starting to show.

Good thing you said something, we wouldn't want people reading Blue's forums to get the wrong idea about you.

Yeah, it's so much better now that they're about great gameplay and they give more people an opportunity to feel included. Progress!

Not necessarily. While it is true that feeling included often involves a sense of recognition and validation of one's identity, it is possible to feel included without necessarily representing one's own identity in a specific way. For example, one might feel included in a community or social group based on shared values or interests, regardless of whether their identity is explicitly represented within that group.

Which is the beauty of the words "an opportunity"—it's about adding a new way for someone to feel included, and not necessarily about establishing something that didn't exist in other ways before. So sure, while it's possible that all kinds of people might have found ways to feel included previously; this character is a good thing because it adds to the list of ways for people to feel included while also delivering what looks like an awesome gameplay experience that seems consistent with the vision for the game from the beginning.

Stereotypes are oversimplified and often inaccurate representations of a group of people, and they can lead to harmful assumptions, discrimination, and prejudice.

That Petal Platform ability is a significant gameplay changer. While Sym's teleporter is more efficient at moving the whole team, now a Support can boost ANY Damage hero into new places. And it rises upon being walked on, so it won't require further teamwork/activation from Lifeweaver.

Matches will see a lot of new tactics, and bugs, with Season 4.
