Dammit, I'm chopping at the bit to purchase this and wish it would go on sale. But I'm weak, so very very weak.
Maybe it's time to freeze the cc in the middle of a 10lb block of ice, that's always been helpful in the past. Wink

I wanted to buy it day 1.So glad I didn't.
Now drop it to half price and maybe I'll think about it.
What a disappointment.

I want it but not badly enough to pay full price for a linear single player game I probably won't complete more than once. Definitely waiting for a sale, during which time I'm hoping it'll be patched up nicely.

Started playing the PS3 version, and I liked it a whole lot.
Uninstalled.
Will wait for the best possible version, as long as it takes.

The first two patches did wonders for me. First one removed the wierd skipping despite having a good fps, and the second seems to have resolved what crashing I did have. Been playing it this weekend without issue (except for one crash while I first went to continue my game after starting).

I am hoping the next patch will fix the mouse turning as I'm thinking of switching to mouse/keyboard if it does. I like the feedback on the PS5 controller (the haptics are pretty nice), but aiming is a pain sometimes.

The sooner the better. Iron Galaxy should be kept away from porting any PC game, they suck at it. But that doesn't take Naughty Dog and Sony off the hook because they signed off on release in this state. The reason Iron Galaxy is allowed to keep screwing up is probably because they are the lowest bidder. I see Iron Galaxy PC port and I cringe each time. Remember how Arkham Knight got taken off of Steam because of the tender love and care Iron Galaxy gave it?

Assuming that "they" in your statement means the gaming industry at large, I am seriously having doubts. It keeps happening, and ostensibly no lessons are ever learned.

"that work us underway to address problems..."

An appropriate typo, Blue. They're using the public to help them find bugs.

Let me highlight the "downplay words" from ND's statement (yellow primary, cyan secondary):

"The Last of Us Part I PC players: We know some of you have not experienced the Naughty Dog quality you expected. Our team is working hard to resolve issues currently preventing some of you from experiencing the game to ensure it reaches the quality level you expect and deserve."

Yellow = makes it sounds like only a few people are experiencing issues. The current ratings would indicate otherwise.
Cyan = happy talk assumptions to minimize the fact that they knowingly launched a broken product because they can patch it post-launch after people made a purchase and they got their money.

Compared to other recent ports they dropped the ball, but I also recognise it's hard to test 20 million hardware configs.

As for ratings, as you should already know, you are more likely to get the ?% of disgrunteled customers to complain then the satisfied ones to make a positive review as they are busy playing the game.

Also iron galaxy should get gud or get out.

rankings don’t mean anything. there are probably millions of people playing this game which means you are going to have a lot of people have problems. And they are going to be complaining. Since this is naughty dog, its going to get reported on by youtubers just for the clicks. And then the brigading happens, which is a combination of people with a problem, or people that hated last of us two, or people that feel the game should’ve been 40 bucks.

I personally have had 0 issues from day 1.
Maybe people are trying to run at max settings when they don't have enough VRAM or something.
I highly recommend it, I'm having a blast.

You can fix some of the basic S%^T by just doing some bare minimum testing. The list of PC launches that biff the landing are just staggering. And they aren't "Phil who is using a Sound Blaster card from 2011" issues.

Excuses of the companies in question:

Testers for xbox and ps5 vs PC.
xbox - couple variants.
ps5 - couple variants
PC - 25 to the 9th power of configurations. Maybe test with some standard GPU/CPU/memory configurations.

that is an overly simplistic view. There is huge difference in the number of problems a developer will see with 20 beta testers and a limited set of hardware vs 1 million people playing the game with a vast array of hardware. Just comparing the numbers you can figure that on release they will see 50000x more bugs and issues. "THEY SHOULD HAVE TESTED MORE!!!" How much more testing would it take? they could test for years and still have the actual product launch blow up because testing can only every do a fraction of what happens on launch.

Don't you think that's a little bit insulting? Given the huge number of people reporting serious performance issues it is virtually impossible that they are all doing something wrong.

With no replayability, the fact that it's a console port, and that it's been hyped to the moon, Imma pass. The playthrough I watched back when this thing was newer scratched the itch for me for the story. I don't feel I need to play what I've already seen.

They never learn. Why should the companies?

100% will not learn BEFORE consumers learn to STOP BUYING PREDICTABLY SHODDY PORTS ON DAY 1.

NO ONE should be remotely surprised by this.
