I was struck with a thought yesterday about April Fools' Day, and the general
perception that this has been ruined by the internet. Now I'm not going to argue
that many of the jokes that get posted are funny or anything. But I did come up
with the perspective that it could be considered beneficial that the internet
has become a lightning rod for the occasion. So many of the jokes and gags are
concentrated online that it doesn't seem like people focus nearly as much on IRL
stunts as they used to. Being bespoke, those jokes were probably generally
funnier to start with, but it still seems appropriate to recognize the helpful
role the online world has played in sparing so many unsuspecting victims buckets
of water over the head and other such hilarity.
It is apparent that the dog's collar had been attached to the washer drawer. I'm guessing by human intervention, not animal misadventure.
Based on where the video starts I'm going with a staged video. Harmless enough in this case.
But there was a video a while ago where a cat was straddling a railing at a fair height. I couldn't shake the thought the video producer had endangered an animal just for clicks. There's a fine line between cute and abuse.
The Snoopy/Beagle pic was cute, and it reminded me of when I would get drunk with my animal rescue friends and legitimately argue this very thing. That, or whether Mickey Mouse's 'Goofy' was a dog or not.
Which of course he ISN'T.

WHY DO CITY PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE THE SPECIAL LITTLE SNOWFLAKE WITH THE SPECIAL LITTLE SNOWFLAKE OF A DOG THAT DOESN"T NEED TO BE ON A LEASH WHEN EVERYBODY ELSE'S DOG IS?
I get it in the country, it's different. In the city......
This is coming from the fact that this monring I woke up to take my 120 lb mutt out for a walk and somebody's 25-30 lb mutt jumped us at the door. Tried to bite my dog's face and ended up with her whole head in my dog's mouth. We got them seperated and I am pretty sure they will both be fine.......but I now know that feeling when something happens to your pet.....and how it makes you want to toss the person responsible off a cliff. I also now face the decision of filing a police/animal control report. We don't have strong owner penalties in California. The dog will be put down, the owner is free to get another dog. Its fucking bullshit.
