It's something that just makes no sense yet it continually happens. I simply do not see how a company doesn't lose far more than it gains when it releases a port in such bad shape that it is simply impossible that they didn't know exactly what they were doing. I just don't see how the initial sales can supercede the blow to the company's reputation and long term sales of its titles.

I believe that extremely bad PC ports from popular publishers are unacceptable. They harm the reputation of the publisher, exclude a large portion of the audience, and ultimately lead to frustration and disappointment among players. Publishers have a responsibility to ensure that their products are of high quality and accessible to all players, regardless of their platform of choice.
To guarantee optimal performance on average PC systems, developers can undertake various steps such as code optimization through efficient algorithms, reducing shader complexity, utilizing texture compression techniques, employing efficient file compression algorithms, memory allocation optimization, minimizing CPU utilization through multithreading and concurrency practices, identifying and resolving potential software conflicts, and performing rigorous testing across multiple PC configurations. All of which Sony couldn't give two farts about, apparently.![]()

Dude has a monster gaming rig (12900/4090). All cpu cores pegged for 15 minutes to compile shaders.
He liked the game and didn't run across any major issues.

The sequel is objectively the greatest achievement in narrative gameplay of all time. ***snip*** There it is.
The Flying Penguin wrote on Mar 29, 2023, 09:30:Everyone was rightfully worried after it was known who was doing the port. Add in the fact that no review copies were releasedy and the rest is history.
Just checked Steam's page. 6,400 user reviews, mostly negative, and the reviews are scathing.
There are no critic reviews listed on Metacritic, so I'm guessing Naughty Dog knew the game was fucked, and refused to release review keys ahead of time? Even more egregious.
Hope they fix it eventually as I would like to play the game some day.
The new motto is if cdpr can do it so can we.

Anyone who grew up playing video games and has been waiting for the interactive arts to converge with cinema, so that you're literally playing a part in what's happening on-screen, the whole time on the edge of your seat watching the drama unfold and waiting with bated breath to see what's going to happen next... There it is.

I was pretty excited when they finally made a TV show because I could just not get into the gameplay at all.
3rd person action adventure just ain't my thing.
I tried to stick it out for the story, but very early on when I'm cranking some generator handle and zombies are scripted to attack me while I do it no matter what sort of preparations I make beforehand... No thanks!
How did you like it? Haven't watched it yet myself.
