There are at least a couple dozen publicly-traded eSports teams/brands around the world now, but as with so many other things, they are floundering in the current economic climate... Looks like most of them are down ~90% in value compared to when this Forbes list was put out last year: https://www.forbes.com/sites/brettknight/2022/05/06/the-most-valuable-esports-companies-2022/

Why the fuck, would a video game clan/team try to become a publicly traded company? That barely works for professional sports teams with far larger followings?

The cynic in me assumes this was some sort of money laundering scheme, failed or successful, I can't even tell.
