I've always had a soft spot for the turtles. A serious and gritty take with an emotional element sounds like a winning combination to me. I haven't read the story yet and will look to pick it up.
I do wish the article didn't spoil the identity of who the remaining masked turtle is in the book though.
** Edit ** - sounds like he's unmasked at the end of the first issue as opposed to the end of the full run so maybe it's not too much of a spoiler
