CS2 is a free upgrade to CS:GO, marking the start a new era of Counter-Strike on Valve's Source 2 engine. The game's full range of new features will be announced at launch, but during the limited testing period we'll be evaluating a subset of those features to get it ready for the worldwide release.
Here's some of what CS2 will mean for players:
- Upgraded and overhauled maps
- Game-changing dynamic smoke grenades
- Tick-rate-independent gameplay
- Redesigned visual effects and audio
- All of a player's CS:GO items go with them to CS2

Honestly, I am okay with the same game just evolving with the tech but basically staying the same game. Add a feature or two, sharpen up some things, but basically....the same.

It's awesome to be living through a new Counter-Strike game coming out, played a big CS:S game last night with friends just to celebrate!
Well ok maybe not entirely "new", but it's a least deserving of the title "2" more than another certain game Especially since they've already done a fair amount of changes/upgrades in this new version, with the promise of a lot more to come (they've have a limited beta test that's already leaked publicly apparently).
The voxel data-structured smoke is just the coolest thing ever, can't wait to see how that plays out.

The identical hipfire POV intensifies the 'gun personality' because it allows you to move/aim/shoot all the guns the same way, but your results will vary wildly. So you have to adjust with each gun.Razumen wrote on Mar 23, 2023, 03:25:Agent.X7 wrote on Mar 22, 2023, 23:45:Never was necessary, still isn't.
Still can't aim down sights in 2023 CS2, huh?
Yeah this is just it. Well, unless you're using the SIG rifle, but the general idea with each gun is that they're super unique and almost have their own personality. They want you to master them "as is" basically since they each handle differently. Adding in aiming down the sights was never a real thing in Counter Strike at any time going back to the original beta days.
If they did, it would be more of a squad based COD and they're certainly not looking to do that with CS. It's mostly a perfected 5v5 formula at this point and they don't want to mess with it.

Looking at the videos, I guess I expected more. Talking about a new source engine and unless I've missed other titles that came out with it, I expected more. It looks like they played it safe here. The graphics look very similar to regular CS GO, but obviously they updated the smoke grenades effects to be more tactile. Everything else doesn't look all that much upgraded other than perhaps cleaner/sharper looking? I'm not even sure. I guess they're mostly sticking with, if it ain't broke, don't fix it idea.
