Thanks for the reply, it sounds great and would probably buy it at release, if it was drm free.
I'm just getting around to Dying Light 2 and played Elden Ring recently, but they are nothing like L4D afaik.
I really enjoy Coop and open world sounds great, as do most of those games you listed.
I finally watched the trailer and it seems pretty good but some of the dialogue sounds kind of hokey.

Well, that describes almost any co-op game, lol. But this one takes place in a free-roaming open world and includes heavy RPG elements (character classes, leveling, random loot, etc.), neither of which are features of Left 4 Dead. The way the devs talk about it, it's supposed to share a lot of similarities with their previous games (Dishonored, Prey), except with multiplayer capability added in. Blue posted this article a couple months ago that addresses this exact comparison, and they explain it's more like Far Cry if you have to compare it to something: https://www.gamesradar.com/big-in-2023-redfall-preview-interview-exclusive/
But I like the way they mention specifically Far Cry 2 as well as S.T.A.L.K.E.R. as inspirations for the open world gameplay, especially in regard to various systems overlapping and sometimes creating unexpected results.
