Set in 184 AD, during the Later Han Dynasty, Wo Long features a land overcome by chaos and destruction. With an imperial dynasty on the verge of collapse, it’s up to a nameless militia solder to overcome adversity while fighting for survival in the turbulence of a Three Kingdoms plagued by demons and overrun by some of history’s most powerful and intimidating warriors, including Liu Bei, Cao Cao, and Sun Jian. To overcome the odds, players will need to awaken their inner strength by mastering the fluid swordplay of the Chinese martial arts, cast Wizardry spells based on the Five Phases (elements), and even summon Divine Beasts when things appear most bleak.

He's literally the final part of the level and the game expects you to beat him with what you've collected and learned during the level.HoSpanky wrote on Mar 3, 2023, 18:04:jacobvandy wrote on Mar 3, 2023, 15:20:Argonius the 3rd wrote on Mar 3, 2023, 14:56:
It feels grindy, furthermore leveling up is incredibly slow. Started Wo Long and after 30' going through a linear area, I was confronted with a boss fight, and it's one of those bosses that will kill you after 2 hits whereas 2 of my hits do 0.1% damage.
Sounds like the first boss of every Soulslike ever. Call him 'The Humbler.'
And that, right there, is why I avoid "soulslike" games. I absolutely do not have the time to play the same fight 60 times just to learn some patterns that are immediately useless upon actually completing it.
Well, I've played a lot of them and could probably count on one hand the number of bosses that are anywhere near *that* brutal and complex. Most of them telegraph attacks in the same way any other bosses do, you should have some kind of universal dodge/block response as a player of action games in general. But The Humbler's job is merely to invoke despair, you aren't meant to beat him the first time you meet.

Me personally, I like a little build up before you blast my ass ...
