This just got a big patch that supposedly improves the port and mouse controls, I haven't tried it yet though.

noman, you make some good points about the evolution of game controls. I don't recall complaining as much back in the nineties about using a joystick for flight sims and racers. But those kind of controllers were for specific genres where their analog nature was an advantage.

First and Third person shooters/Melee games have no excuse not to be properly configured for Mouse and Keyboard. From my albeit brief look at this game, I see no reason why mouse and keyboard controls aren't tight.

It feels like I'm seeing Plays best with a controller popping up way too often nowadays for genres where Mouse and keyboard has been firmly established as fine (I'd argue better) for at least 2 decades.

So, you gotta spend hours and hours getting Godlike at one move (deflect) to have any hope of defeating bosses, apparently. Not my idea of fun. I'd rather be able to tailor my character to be able to use many of the other skills to be able to win fights, alternate ways of doing damage, otherwise why even have more than deflect and counter hit? Hard nope.

It's not always possible to make games optimal with a KB/M or a controller in some cases. For example they've tried to make RTS games work with controllers but the results are pretty mixed. Same thing with third person ARPGs on the PC, you can use a KB/M but it's usually not ideal. That said, I did check it out last night and the mouse stuff could use a patch to eliminate some of the lock/snapping to things so I would agree that the devs messed up on the port in that regard. After messing around with it for a minute I just turned on my Xbox controller because the mouse support is worthless.

For that matter, Forza works best with wheels, and MS FlightSim or a DCS game pretty much requires a good flight stick.

Runs fine for me at 1440p with an R5 2600x/3070, with no stuttering, however there's occasional odd texture flashes that were also in the demo. I know some newer Intel CPUs are struggling though, for some reason. Also, yeah, don't play this without a controller. I wouldn't personally suggest playing anything remotely like this on KB/M for various reasons - not the least of which is that Japanese developers often overlook PC controls, or have un-bindable keys.

Game's fun though. Nioh is much more of a favorite, but I think this'll do fine. I think I enjoy it more than Sekiro, but maybe I'll give it another shot after Wo Long.

I'm waiting for them to fix the mouse before getting. some people have said the game can be cheesed by waiting for the enemies to glow red and parrying. it does a tremendous amount of ki damage to them while building yours. so the difficulty is in learning the timing and the mechanics.

I'm a pretty hardcore ARPG guy but even harder than Nioh 2 or Sekiro?! Damn, my old man reflexes might not be up for this.

I really didn't like that 30/60 fps option (visuals vs preformance). Like that's some conslow nonsense.

I LOVED Nioh 2, more than any game in a long time....

But i think i'll give this one a little more time to bake.

As a huge Nioh/Nioh 2 fan I struggled for a while with the new mechanics of Wo Long, however coming back to the demo the next day, it all started to click for me. Can't wait for this to drop!
