What a legal nightmware this is going to end up being. Google and Bing are now going to start sucking up all the information on the internet and present it to you themselves with zero attribution, links, or monetization for the original content providers. People were already annoyed at Google's snippets, since they kept people from visiting their website and Google kept all the ad dollars. But at least there was always a link to the site at the bottom of the snippet. With A.I. aggregation, you won't even get that. This could kill websites like stackoverflow and quora if the legal system won't do anything to protect their IP from a.i. bots.

Pretty sure Comcast as been caught doing that too -- probably all ISPs have done it. Reminds me of AT&T getting caught/busted/whatever charging some kind of fee which was supposed to have stopped for many, many years. Sometimes when this stuff happens it is simply bad procedures or incompetence, but I wouldn't be surprised if much if it is on purpose.

Well known scammy behavior by Earthlink. I have had many clients over the years who used to have Earthlink dialup, along with an email account and once they cancelled dialup, they continued being billed for it and were never switched to a free email account. A lot of them were retirees, but some were small businesses.
