The real proof that crypto is garbage? In these thefts, it's never referred to in its crypto amount, only in what it's "worth" in a REAL currency.
Lots of reasons to be cautious/suspicious about crypto - but this isn't one of them. When someone steals a painting, it's value is reported in the currency that most of the readers of the report can relate to. Same with a huge theft of Yen in Japan. If the report of that theft is being read about in the US, it will be specified in $. Does that make Yen not a real currency?

What makes crypto not a real currency yet is it's lack of utility, Maybe that changes, maybe it doesn't. Call me skeptical but crazier things have happened.

Ahh, crypto bros....I can't get enough of these stories where they get ripped off and they've got no legal recourse. The real proof that crypto is garbage? In these thefts, it's never referred to in its crypto amount, only in what it's "worth" in a REAL currency. It's not a currency; it's a commodity, and a stupid one at that. It has no physical presence, which means when it stops being trendy, and is worth nothing. You don't even end up with a stupid tchotchke to put on a shelf and say "hahaaaaa, I paid $4500 for that little stuffed animal"; it's so insignificant that its remains won't even spark a short, amusing story.
