Terminal Velocity: Boosted Edition in March

Throwback game publisher Ziggurat Interactive announces Terminal Velocity: Boosted Edition, an updated version of Terminal Velocity, is expected on PC and consoles on March 14th. Here's the Steam Listing. This 6DoF indoor/outdoor flying shooter was originally released in 1995, near the peak popularity of this subgenre. Word is: "Updated for modern platforms, will have players at the forefront of aircraft-based combat, taking to the skies and soaring through realistic environments. It’s all about action, speed, and destruction!" The Teaser Trailer reveals that while the graphics are upscaled, this still will not be mistaken for a brand new game. Here's more on the plan:
In Terminal Velocity™: Boosted Edition, players will strap themselves into a fully decked-out fighter ship and battle through nine enemy-plagued planets across the galaxy. Set in the far future, the Earth is under siege as adversarial armadas from the surrounding systems have begun to strike. As a top-flying ace from the Ares Squadron, players will take control of the fastest — and most dangerous — aircraft ever made. Outgunned and outmanned, only a true fighter can make it out alive!

Unique to most flight simulators, Terminal Velocity™: Boosted Edition puts combat at the forefront. With low inertia flight mechanics that allow players to bank, roll, and loop easily across treacherous maps, and a straightforward control layout, they’ll be thrust bow-first right into the action. To support them in battle, they’ll have access to seven destructive weapons and multiple power-ups to conquer deadly enemy fighters in the air and on the ground. They’ll feel the ultimate power of flight as they take to the skies and soar through realistic environments and put their aerial skills to the test as they travel through dozens of tunnels and underground caverns. It’s all about action, speed, and destruction!

I enjoyed Fury3 more, but I doubt I'd really enjoy playing it today.
An AA/indie remake would be way more interesting.

I played this as a 10 year old, on my father's Compaq laptop with its 25mhz CPU. The game ran at maybe 10FPS, probably more like half that. That is my fond memory of Terminal Velocity: playing a game, and enjoying the experience, despite awful performance. As a kid, you didn't even care, i was happy to play ANY game!
But today? This? Yeah no thanks

Had fun with the game back in the day. Overshadowed by the likes of Descent, but still a decent truly 3d game. One has to remember that back in the day on those low-res high refresh cathode-tube CRT monitors, those graphics actually looked quite a bit better than they do today.

Still feels like a cheap cash grab.

I had the shareware version of Duke Nukem 3D on CD. The CD also had Terminal Velocity but I could never quite get into it. I dunno. Then again, I had Duke Nukem 3D so there was no point really.
Now we donce.

Cool game back then, but why not a HD remaster?

Who would pay money for this now? I mean maybe a retro fan who can't let go of the good old days...but no one else.

I loved this game, and played the heck out of it (scary enough I still have my original 3.5" floppies from it... I really need to learn to let things go). I still don't think I can play it now and enjoy those horrible textures at this point..

IIRC, the only good thing about this game was some new, fancy graphics shit. Was it the first DirectX game or something like that? I can not remember and am too lazy to Google it right now but I remember that it had some jaw-dropping visuals.

The gameplay was very basic though. I mean, we had a plethora of better starship games back then like the X-Wings, the TIE fighters and the Wing Commanders and stuff like that.
Terminal Velocity didn't even begin to hold a candle to those games but it had some impressive terrain rendering at high speeds. It deserves some credit as a tech demo at least.

Oh come on, game was good in its time, but updated how ? The box's picture ?
Seems as pixellated as the original, no way I'm replaying that.

Reminds me of Chasm The Rift barely remastered, played days ago.
Nice memories but a let down, too retro.

(And I'm loving Gothic 2 Odyssey enormous new lands fan made mod with the excellent GD3D11 graphics).
