RogueSix wrote on Jan 29, 2023, 16:19:everybody has different ways they like to play a game. you obviously like the stories, once and done with the game, others like the power fantasy, where you start off incredibly weak and gradually become overpowered through loot, crafting and leveling up. Repeatable missions are one way of doing that, another is with games that have NG+ modes which is essentially repeating the entire story. It is probably difficult to please both types of players. Maybe why ubi makes their worlds so large, even if you only do things once it still can take 100+ hours unless you only do the main missions. And with the latest games, if you don't level up near the enemies level you might be at a huge disadvantage because of power scaling
A repeatable story mission isn't even "story" to begin with. For something to be "story", it at least has to matter a little bit within the context of the game world and its characters. A mission that can be repeated endlessly is pointless filler make-believe garbage. It's busy work.

Eh, I am hoping they are going to use the model the division used. Where you have a big open world, repeatable story missions and random events scattered across the map. It had for an enjoyable gameplay loop.

Are we seeing the same game? Redfall is vampire-themed Far Cry. I think it looks okay, no worse than Deathloop. Not $70 good (nothing has been), but certainly a fun co-op romp, potentially.

Even just $1 is way too much for Redfall. You'd have to pay me to play that garbage.
Based on the recent gameplay footage.

Yikes, that looks terrible gameplay wise.
STARFIELD though, I'm looking forward to. There have been so many let downs with space rpg sims either being shallow, incomplete, or buggy. So hopefully this delivers.
Lorcin wrote on Jan 28, 2023, 21:57:True, but since Starfield will be on game pass, I'm probably playing the hell out of it, bugs and all.Schkorpio wrote on Jan 28, 2023, 21:30:

I'm damn sure the Bethesda space RPG will deliver on the full trifecta and be shallow, incomplete AND buggy

I know that you can get the first month of Game Pass for a dollar but I hope they might consider doing a free weekend with these two games. It's nice to be able to try new things for free.
