Feel the beat as wannabe rockstar Chai and his ragtag team of allies rebel against an evil tech megacorp with raucous rhythm combat! From Tango Gameworks, the studio that brought you The Evil Within and Ghostwire: Tokyo (no, really) comes Hi-Fi RUSH, an all-new action game where the characters, world and combat stylishly sync to the music!
Labeled ‘defective’ after a shady corporate experiment mistakenly fuses a music player to his heart, Chai must now fight for his freedom in a slick animated world where everything – platforming puzzles, enemy attacks and even the colorful gags & banter - are synced to the beat.

Great surprise, and it's only $30! Took me about an hour to get through the first level, which ends with that boss in the thumbnail above... It is just as much fun as it looks in the videos. If you like combo-based beat-em-up games (Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, etc.) then you're gonna like this, and they did a really good job of making the rhythm mechanics fun and rewarding. Which is nice, 'cause even though they say it's not technically required that you adhere to it, you're going to want to get in that groove to be successful in combat. It's also really cool to see how close they're getting to perfecting real-time anime art style for 3D games, and they obviously put a LOT of effort into making the animations so slick. Including the lip-syncing, which is not very good in most anime-styled things. Here it's practically movie quality, even on the cat, lol.
Can you save mid level? This looks like a great casual game like SoR4 that you can just jump into for a bit and leave, which is something I'm really looking for these days, but an hour for a level is a bit high for that

This game is getting great player reviews. I'd laugh if this is MS's best reviewed game this year and they decided to release it with no advertising or advanced notice. I wasn't too interested until I saw how much people are enjoying it. I'll definitely be giving it a try today since it's on Game Pass.
