I think Musk is a really decent guy, actually, who has done and is doing a lot of good in the world.

Amazing... when the poor folks on the partisan left thought he was with them, Musk could do no wrong. Now that he's declared he isn't with them politically, they say he can't do anything right...;)
Walt, you're too intellectually dishonest to ever respond to this, but you're applying a standard to a wide group of people that you don't to yourself. Yes, some liberals thought Musk could do no wrong, but many didn't like him. It isn't necessarily the same that loved him and now loathe him, not to mention, we've learned a lot more about him lately.
But you've been praising him now that you think he's on your side, because you treat politics more like sports than anyone here. Let's review the tape on what you used to think, though:WaltSee wrote on Oct 6, 2017, 17:31:
More like a big con man...;) I've been amazed to see Musk "coming up" with idea after idea taken straight from 1950's and 60's "B" sci-fi...;) And it's all to pitch for more government loan guarantees...Musk is just the resident version of Solyndra who unfortunately won't go away...;) Just more fallout from the Obama administration's nuking of America.WaltSee wrote on Jan 12, 2016, 20:48:
Musk is getting dry rot on the brain, I think. Lately, his "predictions" keep getting more and more bizarre.WaltSee wrote on Jun 19, 2018, 18:08:Nimh wrote on Jun 19, 2018, 17:23:
Musk is an asshole boss with a prosecution complex. I have no idea how he gets the press coverage he gets.
It's the perfect thing to say when your entire electric car scheme is falling apart and you consistently cannot meet your targets for product production. "It's not me, it was Employee X who sabotaged the works." I don't think Musk needs any help with sabotage...;) He's been doing a splendid job of it for years, imo.
He gets coverage because he is another of Obama's ridiculous "Green Genius" projects backed by government money--like Solyndra *cough* ($500M of taxpayer money down the rabbit hole, and nobody knows where all that money went!)--that seems to be going nowhere fast. Musk is what happens when the government tries to make fiscal decisions and design products, etc. Often what looks good to the government is simply a fraudulent giveaway. Musk is into the government pie by a few billion $ so far--we shall see, but I think his time with Tesla is running out rapidly.
Try being more honest about who is the real partisan around here.
