I got the all-clear on spoiling the Giants game, so I can acknowledge my
disappointment that the team's season has come to an end. They exceeded even the
most optimistic expectations this season, so this isn't as painful as all that. But this is
a team that's won two Super Bowls by getting hot at the right time and
surprising everyone, so it was hard to avoid hoping that type
of lightning could strike again. Oh well, with my rooting interest ended, I can
just relish in the fact that the NFL's final four are all terrific teams. So
there's the prospect of some great contests in the three remaining postseason
games. Congrats to the fans of the conference finalists.

Sure, some people that played the games will know some of this, but I bet many won't, and a lot of other stuff happened in the episode as well. It wasn't boring at all.

LOL, you must have found some value if you made it to S4. I barely made it through the first season before pulling the eject handle. Finding TLoU much better: better writing, better action, better acting, better production values, etc. A shame you're not enjoying it.

they changed some vital things from the games so we can't expect to know everything going in. but that's beside the point anyway. what separated it from previous zombie stories was that it used the apocalypse as a backdrop to tell a human story of how people cling to what that means at the edge of survival. i'll admit i've never seen walking dead, but from what little i saw it seemed to crank up the melodrama to soap opera 11. last of us doesn't do that; there's only one relationship that matters. the rest is seeing how joel and ellie struggle with what it still means to be human which is in the richest tradition of great scifi and horror.

Mrs. Burrito loved that show and I could never get quite why because, realistically, she knew better. I'd point out "That was an incredibly stupid move for reasons X, Y, and Z. They'd all be dead if it wasn't for deus ex machina #87,912."

I found the second episode even duller than the first. So far the show is doing nothing different than Walking Dead did, and I burnt out on that show many years ago. I'll give it one more episode, but the previews for next week don't give me hope that the show will do anything to distinguish itself.
Episode 2 of The Last of Us continues to be good.
