Imagine releasing this instead of MUA3 and then releasing MUA3 and its hot garbage and exclusive only to switch.

Disney has destroyed anything and everything good that came from marvel, including my childhood dreams.

Another "live service" failure. I think this announcement is playing coy. They are trying to soften the blow and save face but they must have a planned "pull the plug" date that they don't want to share that will make it so you can't play online at all.

Making Spider-Man a Playstation exclusive while other platforms got nothing killed any curiosity I had about this game.

Probably because Sony owns the rights to Spiderman and wouldn't license it to other platforms.

Sony only owns the movie rights. Marvel decides who to license out for video games. This is clear because Spider-Man and associated characters have been in other games.

Now, I'm not saying that the Sony situation in regards to movies didn't have some bearing on Marvels decision, there was a lot going on at the time in regards to Holland and Sony's Spider-Man, so Marvel probably thought it prudent not to stir the pot.

Ah I see. Thanks for the clarification.

I never played it but one of the big complaints I heard repeated often is that, for a looter shooter, it had pretty 'meh' loot and it didn't alter appearance or show up on heroes in game. No doubt they were hamstrung by the licensing and the bullshit 'live service' model that publishers like so much these days.

But Spider Man is on PC now...
The Spider-Man character DLC for this game, not the Spider-Man game. From the Crystal Dynamics update that Blue linked:

Will Spider-Man remain a PlayStation exclusive?
Spider-Man will remain exclusive to PlayStation.

If you have xbox game pass it's been on there for awhile if you want to try it out.

Is this game worth it? I just finished Spider Man and Miles Morales. I can't imagine cramming a bunch of heroes into 1 game can be that good. How is it?

I got it for $10 or $15 a ways back, and I found the campaign to be worth it. The rest is grindy mission/loot/XP farming on randomly generated missions (mostly), which, well, the combat isn't unenjoyable.. but I found it to get kinda repetitive. The campaign was decent though. Good VAs, decent graphics, okay story. I have not played MP or co-op, but it sounds kinda rigid - and I'm about 90% sure you can't play the campaign in co-op either, only those random missions as well as harder boss fights.

Better than it gets credit for being, at least as far as just going through the campaign. I haven't played the DLC for it, and didn't do the content grind to level and play constantly after finishing the campaign, but the game is pretty good if you just want to play the story. You can get it for pretty cheap these days, and I think it's definitely worth what it goes for to play it that way if you get it on sale (the ultimate edition was like $12 recently on the Xbox holiday sale, for example). /edit: It's $11.99 on Blue's Humble sale link right now.

I think most of the complaints around it were in regards to its GAAS model, which only really mattered if you were going to try and keep playing it like it was Destiny and level all the characters to 50 for no other reason than to do that.
