Good. I hope these "free" services end up costing eye-watering, staggering amounts of money.

The old axiom is still true: If something is free, then you're the product.

Linux is free. Uhoh

If you believe that you are not the true product of these services, and Amazon and Google would never ever make a profit surreptitiously off data slurping everything you do with these services, boy do I have a deal on a bridge for you.

But it would in this case only me both, you pay and are the product.

If anyone at Google is sitting there and saying "man we can charge for gmail, we've been extremely kind to our customers here", gmail is like a loss-leader to get you into their ecosystem. It has been paid for 1000 fold from sucking in the people to mine from and let other services thrive.

Isn't Gmail actually the entire Google account system?

1/500Hz is 2ms. No way is IPS going to refresh that quickly. This would work for OLED but with IPS they are lying or overdriving the monitor to the point of partial screen refresh and inverse ghosting.

Been thinking on and off about switching from Gmail for a while now. Some friends and businesses use Google Workspace products/services, which makes it that much easier to "collaborate" in various ways (Sheets/Docs/etc come to mind).

The big question is: to what do I switch?
