Diablo IV in June

Blizzard announces D-Day for Diablo IV, saying the action/RPG sequel will launch on June 6, 2023. This will come to Windows and consoles (with cross-platform play and progression) as a Standard, Deluxe, or Ultimate Edition. Preorders are underway on the Diablo IV Website, and they include incentives for the leap of faith. Here's the Official Release Date Trailer and more:
The demon Lilith and the angel Inarius united to create the world of Sanctuary in their desire to escape the Eternal Conflict between Heaven and Hell. But now, decades after the events of Diablo III: Reaper of Souls®, they are bitter enemies who have resorted to war against each other with their respective followers. The lands of Sanctuary have become plagued with ceaseless demons, and only the most steadfast of heroes will be able to hold in the face of darkness. Players will enter the world with their choice of five classes—the shapeshifting Druids, agile Rogues, elemental Sorceresses, brutal Barbarians, and cunning Necromancers. As players grow in power, they can build their gameplay experience in directions that appeal to them, experimenting with skill trees to showcase complimenting spells and abilities.

I cant believe that someone buying the standard edition is not getting the 4 day early access. that you have to buy the deluxe or above to get it.

Again, its Blizzard so what else do you expect. but still. Kind of bullshit when you are paying 70 dollars for the game.

So, we should expect it in December 2023?

Sports games have been pulling this paid “early access” crap for years. Not surprised that Blizzard/Activision is following suit.

This is one of these games I didn't expect to release before I'd walk under a bus or something. It seems I'll experience this game, and way sooner than expected!

70 fucking euro for the base game, on top of a gamepass and in-game MTX store.

GTFO Blizzard.

$69.99 Base price... a bold move, Cotton.

Then again, I consistently have like 1000+ hours in Diablo games, sooo...

*EDIT* What exactly is their Season Pass going to be, cosmetic shit or real content? Or no word yet?
*EDIT* Hrm according to this link the Season Pass sounds like it can be avoided by people like me, who don't care about cosmetics much. We'll see, I guess.

The first four days the servers will probably be crashing anyway, so no loss.

It's not just sports games, it's really not all that rare. I'd bet money that a solid chunk of the people complaining about it were playing Darktide in November.

Did you read the From Software AWS case study Blue posted above? Seems like things like the Diablo 3 launch fiasco should be a thing of the past with dynamic server scaling. IIRC, your job was something similar so you might find it interesting.

I guess I am not looking in the right place, I am not seeing this. Where? And even before reading it, while it might be possible to setup dynamic scaling servers to handle whatever load they might get -- that doesn't mean they will or that they will do it correctly. I still think there is a reasonable to high likelihood of server instability at the launch.
