Didn't some game company lose some court case because they wanted not to use apple's payment system... so apple banned them for allowing out of apple store transactions.

Wouldn't the same thing apply for people purchasing subscriptions on the web, but using the app on an iPhone? Seems to me essentially the same thing. --- although technically it is subscribing to the app, rather than purchasing items within the app, but that's a technicality.

TechCrunch crunched the numbers and reported that Musk could offset the fees by charging $10.38/month, but he seems to have rounded up to charge an even amount for the service.

He was complaining about the tax. now he is paying it. and I guarantee he would have gotten a lot more people to pay the $8 than he will $11. And who the hell is going to pay this money anyway? Businesses and personalities, sure, but casual joe that barely tweets, no.

That is 'fine'. His job is to make Twitter money. But my point is he was arguing/complaining how much Apple is taking/making, and this just helps Apple make more.

Elon's 'free speech' is getting more and more expensive.

This is why you can't entangle a for-profit business with such notions.
