I can't understand what she was trying to say. On one hand, she's absolutely correct in saying that Hollywood largely avoided female fronted action films because, while women will happily watch men, men will less happily watch women (yes, there are exceptions, but I mean, just look at some of the topics we've even had here about female fronted video games!)
On the other hand, there have been many female fronted action films over the years, and she is absolutely aware of this. Many examples people give aren't exactly female led, even if females are important to the plot, but Hannah came out the year prior and was a teenage female main character, and literally everyone on the planet is aware of Aliens.

Vinegaroons and horny toads will soon be a thing of the past.

Oops, thanks for the correction. Well my wife and I decided we need to watch them again since we didn't finish them. I guess I will be getting a much needed refresher.

While food was in limited supply the fighting was an annual forced combat between randomly selected people, one male and one female in each of the twelve districts, to the death one, one survivor allowed (the victor). It was done as a punishment to the districts for rebelling against the capital 74 years ago.
I haven't read them but in the movie I think they were fighting so their district got food or something.

I don't know much about Jennifer Lawrence outside her film roles. But it would seem she is typically American in knowing almost nothing about things which happened prior to when she became a teen. Slightly disappointing, but of little consequence to anyone except Lawrence.

Winters Bone is one of my favorite movies starring Jennifer Lawrence.
It turned me on to Poker House Rules, which was also quite good

There has been a marked decrease in fireflies and that is saddening. They used to be all over this area when I was a kid and now you hardly ever see them. The disappearance of insects is not a good omen for either the planet nor the human species.
