Assassin's Creed Valhalla Receives The Last Chapter

A new patch is now available in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, updating the Viking action game to version 1.6.2. This was planned for next week, but is now live on all platforms. A separate post reveals Destiny 2 crossover cosmetics which are still expected on December 6th. Today's update is called The Last Chapter, as it is the game's final post-release content, weighing in at 13.19 GB on PC. There's also a heads-up that a free weekend will give everyone the chance to sample the game starting on December 15th. Here's a Final Content Update Trailer with a look, and here's more:
In this final content update, players will discover the end of Eivor’s story with The Last Chapter and meet the charismatic Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s character Roshan in Shared History. On December 6, players will be able to custom their experience with a Destiny 2 crossover partnership. Finally, from December 15 to December 19, everyone will be able to play Assassin’s Creed Valhalla for free, during a Free Weekend.

The Last Chapter is a new free quest bringing an intimate end to Eivor’s adventures. This epilogue ties up some of the storylines established during the game. Players will reunite with key characters, historical figures, old friends and enemies, while discovering new adventures and memories which will wrap up the incredible story of Eivor. The Last Chapter is an end game content, requiring players to have completed certain parts of the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla narrative.

As part of this final content update, players will also get the opportunity to cross path with Roshan, Basim’s mentor, voiced by the Emmy-winning actress Shohreh Aghdashloo. In the Shared History free quest, Eivor discovers they share a common enemy.

Moreover, a highly requested combat feature from our community has been implemented giving players the option to fight with Eivor’s hood on. Players can enjoy the wonder of intensity of combat while keeping their Assassin style. Two brand new skills have also been added to Eivor’s collection: Slide Focus and MasterChef.

It's still plagued with denuvo anyway, no-go for me like all Ubisoft titles.

Valhalla is pretty blah. You're less assassin-y than any previous game. It focuses more on running raids on neighboring villages and non-sneaky combat. Worse yet is how blatantly hypocritical the main character is....many missions are based around anger that one of his guys gets killed, yet your character is a near-psychotic murder machine. He clearly thinks human life has very little value, yet he gets angry when one of his guys gets dead instead of feeling even the slightest bit bad about murdering thousands.

I keep saying "he". Male Eivor is the better one this time around. Cassandra is definitely the better choice in Odyssey, but female Eivor's voice is so husky that I checked if the person who voices Marge Simpson's sisters did it. It's distractingly obnoxious.

It's also a game that can't seem to have a fucking ending, although maybe that's what this patch will finally be. Story-wise, you THINK you've seen the end, but then it...keeps fucking going. GAAS works for multiplayer stuff, but it feels counterproductive to do that with something that's single player, story-based.

I enjoyed Origins and Odyssey, I slogged through Valhalla.

Would buy the complete game for $30. Can wait. Have not played the Greek one yet.

I couldn't finish the Greek one. I played the heck out of Origins, but it's mechanics started to lose me. I'm not a fan of the levelling of enemies. Some magic is lost in the formula when I sneak up behind someone, shove a blade into their neck, and they don't just die in a game where you play an assassin. I stopped at the last DLC where the fantastic elements become absurd within even the games magic-enhanced history. Like the apples of eden made a sort of sense within their lore, they were objects secretly manipulating events... now we have like glowing swords, and practially straight up magic. Meh. I didn't even try Valhalla, as it looked more of the same.
