Edit: so many phone typos
As the resident MechWarrior apologist I'll defend the game a bit. It has a great host of less-than-exceptional features, but in coop, playing the mercenary mode (I don't remember what they call it), my friends and I have had a lot of fun with it. I've about 80 hours in the game and I'd play more but getting friends together on the same night is always a challenge. Be aware there are a number of good mods for it as well. Could it be better? Definitely. PGI isn't a great developer (I'd call them moderately competent and somewhat uninspired), but it's still a fun game.
There are a lot of serious ways the game could improve, but the money just doesn't seem to be there. The expansions usually add little nibbles of features and mostly new mechs. I'm guessing this one is the same.
Oh, and the game has notably improved from the initial release which was pretty crap all around.
Hey thanks. Bought this last year and never got around to it. Been thinking about it after my current run through Skyrim is done.
Prepare to be underwhelmed! That's probably the least negative thing I can say about this game. If they added VR they would at least have that going for them, but apparently that's NOT on the table and is never going to be on the table.
Oh how I miss the golden days of.......well pretty much every other Mechwarrior game I've played. If someone remade Mechwarrior 2 and Mechwarrior 2: Mercs in the Unreal5 engine, like straight up remade them, with no extra missions or anything, just a new graphics engine, they would rake in a ton of cash. A ton. Those games would be GOTY material, easy. You see back in those days, when graphics were the bare minimum required to let your imagination fill the rest, gameplay had to be king. It had to be otherwise your game would fail, and fail miserably. Today it's style over substance, well most of the time it's style over substance, and this is how you end up with games like Mechwarrrior 5.
