I wonder how many games will be repeated.![]()

The thing to remember is whatever the system, the decisions are always being made by humans. And unfortunately way too many humans think of their own benefits well before and sometimes to the exclusion of others. This happens in all economic systems because they are always controlled by humans. Barring AIs like you see in Iain M. Banks Culture novels, this will always be a problem.
Everything about capitalism is anti-consumer. Capitalism ruins everything. Capitalism caused homelessness, almost resulted in the internet not existing, creates hateful political policies being enacted via legalized bribes by corporations directly to politicians, causes millions to die each year due to no functioning healthcare system, etc.

I'm hoping the devs of these games are paid by how many freebies are given out, and so I add it to my library simply to maybe help that dev get paid more. Maybe EGS pays a flat amount to have a game as a giveaway for a week, I haven't looked into it, if that info is even available.

Kudos.
What I don't do is spend my time waiting for someone to say the word Walmart so I can preach to them about how bad I dislike them.
... everything else you said was right. And of course their plan worked. Giving away cheap goodies (with the occasional awesome goodie) while paying for timed exclusives is why Sony is one of the big bois in the industry.
The *REASON* people keep preaching is because it's a disgusting, anti-consumer policy. Bribery and paid exclusives, to be clear.
Let me ask you this... how many years of loot boxes and selling parts of games as DLC went by before you *STOPPED* complaining about it?
Or... do you still occasionally complain about those disgusting, anti-consumer policies because they're horrible and you feel the need to educate the stupid people that they work on?
To be fair, if you *DO* stfu after just a few years and allow the anti-consumer crap to continue w/out so much as a peep from you, AND you switch gears to actively supporting the Wal-Marts and Epics of the world (to be fair, you didn't state that you do, English needs inclusive and exclusive forms of you) then you're absolutely part of the problem that you initially railed against.
