It's possible the valid criticism didn't much matter, but the retaliatory criticism did, and that drowned out the retaliatory criticism.

The moron culture war YouTubers, that's who. They make their money being angry at trivial things that shouldn't impact anyone over 10. I'm still annoyed that anyone pays attention to that guy you linked to. All people like him do is cause outrage over nothing and make the world a much worse place for anyone unfortunate enough to have to deal with his followers.

It's just weird that someone said something dumb, was attacked by awful people saying awful things, and the response isn't to condemn the awful people but make videos saying they're really ok for what they said, or at worst should be ignored, because one person on a channel no one knew existed said something dumb.

The problem is the attackers. Keep the focus on them. Not the person no one will remember in a year, if anyone here even knows who they are now. Instead, the faceless mass that thinks this kind of thing is ok.
