HIGHS: Nice looking polygonal monsters; some impressive graphic effects.
LOWS: Bad mouse control; levels are throwback to Doom; no Internet support.
BOTTOM LINE: With better games on the market, you're better off staying away from this one.
"Unfortunately, Chasm is not Quake. The technology underlying Chasm is more analogous to Doom or Duke Nukem 3D than Quake, and it suffers greatly because of this fact. The level designs are completely flat; they don’t contain any of the multi-level areas we’ve come to expect from the current generation of 3D shooters. Worse, Chasm’s engine doesn’t handle perspective well; when you look up or down, the proportions of objects tend to become stretched. And you can only turn your head 45 degrees in any direction, which puts unrealistic restrictions on your view."

GameSpot gave it a 61%"In the long run, Chasm is another cookie-cutter 3D shooter, but it might be of value to 486 users or other gamers with a few bucks to spend before Quake II comes out. Most gamers will feel Chasm is a case of been there, done that - but if you've been lagging behind on the hardware upgrade front, this might be a worthwhile chance to play something that feels more like what you're missing."
