The series doesn't have to be as good as the best movie. As long as it's still good, I'm in. I'm taking it on its own merits.

Add in that Tim Burton and Danny Elfman are are both involved and I'm definitely checking this out.

I also third the Adult Wedesday Addams Youtube series.

That's the hilarious thing, everywhere I've read seems to be complaining about Guzman's appearance and apparently, not a single one of them realizes that out of every iteration of Gomez we've had over the decades (sans the more recent animated version), he's the closest to the original source material.

I've got absolutely no issue thus far over the casting, but I'm still going to reserve judgment until I can see them in action together. I really am more worried about Pugsly and Lurch than I am most of the others, and wondering what role they're giving Christina Ricci.

Casting:

Wednesday looks pretty good.

Morticia looks so-so, gotta have to wait until she's actually acting the part to tell.

Gomez looks horrible. Can't hold a candle to Raul Julia ( 1991 movie ) from the looks of it.

I'm in the exact opposite boat. I think Jones totally works as Morticia, but the guy, no.... just not feeling him at all. Overall looks very interesting.

Oh I absolutely did... I loved it back then and I still really love those two movies. (there was a third one, with a different cast, that I've never seen as it was kinda quickly buried somewhere in the archives).

I agree with all of you, it will be hard to get used to/accept the new faces, at least initially. Especially Ricci, she was quite perfect (just thinking of that forced "smile" in the 2nd movie makes me grin like a child). I really hope it'll be good, though. (At least better as those crappy animation movies, but that won't be too hard.)

Interesting takes. I'm kind of in the same boat, I may watch this, but I feel like the 1990s movie version was ridiculously good, so good we probably didn't appreciate it fully at the time. Everything will be compared to those superstars. I'm not a fan of Guzman in most roles, and this looks to be more of the underwhelming same for me, but as I said, Raul Julia was the best in my opinion, so maybe I'm not being objective here. As far as Wednesday being too pretty... eh, she is probably gorgeous normally, but she looks decently weird here, at least in this short clip. I'll add this to my insanely long watch list, which is rivaling my games to play list.
