Threewave CTF Returns to Quake

Just in time for QuakeCon 2022, Threewave Capture the Flag has been (re)added to Quake, id's classic first-person shooter (thanks Bent). This modification first created by Zoid back in the day returns with updated versions of its original maps. Quake received an enhanced update from Machine Games almost exactly one year ago updating it for current systems. Likewise, CTF returns with some new enhancements. The update is available on Steam, and this post outlines what's new:
This latest version of Quake has been enhanced, with an improved flag status display showing if your flag is safely in base, team scoring, and a modern interface. The maps included have been updated with improved lighting and fog effects. All of this is included free in Update 4, and requires no additional download

Never played Threewave until Quake 2. I came to this site to download the point releases and VWEP patches back then.

Oh shit, I am jumping on that. I spent so much time in CTF back in the day. Hunt: Showdown is the king of multiplayer these days, for me, but Threewave is right there.
Hunt: Showdown to me is like the culmination of the original FarCry multiplayer (semi open-world with lot's of foliage), Quake (simple but really great gunplay, dark aesthetics) and Thief: The Dark Project (best stealth game ever made) and a little Red Dead thrown in for flavor. That is why it works so well for us old guys lol.

It's like golf, but murder... BRUTAL fucking murder. I saw a statistic that suggested that only about 28% of people who have played Hunt: Showdown have even killed a single person. They are missing out, because stabbing a whole team to death, silently. Oh gawd, it's brutal and so satisfying.
