Out of the Blue

Here's something neat I accidentally noticed yesterday. I had no particular reason besides idle curiosity to load up the cool Site Statistics Page that Frans cooked up a while back. Lo and behold, the counter tracking the news stories posted here read 250,001. So I managed to coincidentally check in just after passing the quarter-million stories mark! So that's cool. Of course so many of the individual posts here include several outbound links. I wonder what the total would be if those were all added up? I imagine well over a million, but I can't even come up with a rough estimate. Anyway, here's to the next quarter-mil!

Count-up Round-up
Thanks Ant and Neutronbeam.

Forgot to mention that if you liked Predator, then you ought to see Prey. Absolutely solid movie and a worthy sequel, far more than any sequel that came since the original Predator.

Watched it yesterday, it was pretty neat.

As a french canadian, the french interpretation was hilariously bad, but in a funny kind of way imho. xD

It's a huge issue. Taxes on the mega rich are obviously way too low.

My ex's kids (all adults in their 20-30s )have been watching the Sandman without having read any of it. They are loving it so much they have all called me for dibs on my collection of Sandman graphic novels. Like...chill kids...I am not even dead yet....

In all seriousness, I haven't seen it yet but these three are very different people and if all of them liked it, that is saying something. Particularly without having read the graphic novels.

I watched, I liked it.. didn't expect to. Already hyped for Season 2.
The Sandman is a winner.
Probably has a lot to do with Neil having a role in how it was made.

Binged "The Sandman" when I got home Friday night. It was pretty amazing. The cast was all fantastic, except that Patton Oswalt's voice really threw me out of the moment, since he's not really a voice actor doing a voice, it's just his normal voice coming out of Matthews beak.
"The Sound of Her Wings" was absolutely the best episode of the season, with probably "24/7" as the second best. Overall the changes made sense to integrate stories a bit more all made sense (like combining the Lyta/Hector Hall story more with the Rose storyline in the Dollhouse story arc). They also gave Rose the information that she was a dream vortex earlier to give her a bit more agency in the story, which worked fine. The weaving of The Corinthian throughout the story also worked well as kind of a binding agent to tie "Preludes & Nocturnes" and "The Dollhouse" stories together.

I seriously hope they get a season two so we can see the "Season of Mists" story, along with my personal hope they do the "Dream of a Thousand Cats" story, though I'm not sure if we'll get a full episode on that or not.

I have two notes of disappointment, one more serious than the other. The first, and more serious one, is that they changed Alex's punishment was changed from Eternal Waking to simply Eternal Sleep, which isn't that big of a deal, it amounts to the same thing in the waking world, but I was hoping to see that. The second humorous issue, is that when Death throws the baguette at Dream, it doesn't go "BIP" off his head, he kind of catches it as it hits his chest.

I really enjoy that movie. I have watched it a few times. Good clean fun.

Someone mentioned a few weeks ago that they saw Dr. Strange after Everything, Everwhere, wishing they'd seen Dr. Strange first, it being a letdown in comparison to Everything. I agree with the sentiment in general (even though I feel they are very different films with different themes and goals) so I thought I'd share some fun facts:

Visual effects team size:
Dr. Strange: 1031 people working at professional effects studios.
E,E,AaO: 7 people, working at home on PCs.

Ke Huy Quan, who plays Waymond in Everything, got his start in acting in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom as Short Round. His performance in Everything is a highlight of the movie for me.
