I never really liked western films but somehow over the last couple of years my favorite two games are westerns - Hunt: Showdown & RDR2 - I also thoroughly enjoyed Weird West (even if it really wasn't an "immersive sim").
Underrated film genre. Western recommendations:

  • Once Upon a Time in the West
  • The Wild Bunch
  • The Outlaw Josie Wales
  • Unforgiven
  • The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
Also:
High Noon
Silverado
Red River
Winchester '73
Stagecoach
Hondo
3:10 to Yuma (original and remake)
The Rio Trilogy (Rio Bravo, Rio Lobo, El Dorado)
The Magnificent 7 (1960) - you should absolutely watch the original 7 Samurai movie, too, and the remake of Mag7 in 2016 was alright but not great
And there are countless more great Western movies out there to be discovered by you!
"There is no right life in the wrong one." (Theodor W. Adorno, philosopher)
"Only a Sith deals in absolutes." (Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jedi)

Also, Hunt: Showdown is always releasing new cosmetic stuff - but along with them they release some pretty awesome cinematic trailers - they're pretty easy to miss. They're supposedly working on a TV show, which if the trailers are anything to go by I'm pretty excited for it. The new Serpent Moon event unlocks a bunch of audio lore which is also a little easy to miss.
