Reminds me of Microsoft spending $2B on Minecraft...;) Could have financed 20-40 AAA games for that amount.

And Minecraft would still have outsold all of them combined, and has significant licensing revenue on top of that

I'm definitely not seeing the "anti-competitive" aspect of this merger. Games are a low barrier to entry product that provide entertainment, and other than IP like characters and settings, it doesn't produce anything that a competitor can't simply copy, without breaking any laws. At the end of the day, ActiBlizz being an independent entity vs. ActiBlizz being part of Microsoft, makes little difference to the consumer because it doesn't meaningfully affect their available purchase choices.

Also: lol woke agenda at ActiBlizz. Behold my super woke COSBY SHRINE where I bring women to ply them with liquor and drugs until they can't say no.

Bad games are bad games. The only “agenda” responsible was greed. Poorly shepherded projects put out to die like the War3 remaster.

Also Microsoft doesn’t really make any must have games either

I was gonna say....Blizzard is definitely on the down side at the moment but MS games aren't exactly able to hold the bar any higher.

On what planet do you live on where a company renown for sexual harassments and gender discrimination has a "woke agenda?" What an incredibly naïve and stupid thing to blame the downfall of Blizzard on Rolleyes

Well there's the muscular, pink haired hero Zarya in Overwatch that nearly ended manhood as we know it. Incel's cried about that one for a while. Maybe that's what they were talking about? But yea, weird comment.

I'd argue that before MS purchased Bethesda that was true. Halo doesn't generate the hype and sales that it used to and neither does Gears of War. After they purchased Bethesda however, I'd say the Elder Scrolls games and the upcoming Starfield are "must have" games (Fallout probably not). Although, I don't know how much that really counts when it will take Bethesda 4+ years to release another "must have" game.

It's not like there are any "must have games".

There are a lot of games that are great if you enjoy the genre(s) and/or theme(s), as well as several titles that repeatedly show up on various "Top x games of all time" lists. But none of them are "must have games".

There are also a lot of impactful historical milestones in gaming and ActiBlizz certainly has quite a bunch under their belt. Same with Microsoft. But none of those are "must have games" either, regardless of who made/published them.

No one is being literal here, people don’t need a game like they need air, water or pizza. The expression just refers to high quality titles that also tend to sell well.

My comment was a bit of a snipe at Microsoft who have been promising a lot with first party content for their new consoles. They’re currently stuck with no big releases on the calendar again. Maybe next year!

Not speaking for Blizz games but Microsoft has a lot of games that have been good over the past 5 years. Maybe not to you, but I have found a few that were a lot of fun. But to me that fun is Coop with fiends. So there you have it.

I am looking forward to Diablo 4. but I'm also vey skeptical about the game and the MicroTrans.
