Christian Bale is easily one of the top 3 Marvel Villains, everybody else was great, the story was reasonably good, the effects etc. were all good to great... it's not Oscar material, it's a Marvel movie.
Christian Bale does great villains.
I loved him in American Psycho. He’s one of the main reasons I want to see the movie besides the obvious, Natalie Portman. Grin

I was looking forward to Lightyear, but reviews have been pretty rough.

I'll definitely watch it once it hits Disney+, no reason not to.

I did break down and see Thor Love and Thunder in a theater, in a highly vaccinated state recently... I thought it was pretty good actually. Not sure why so many reviewers disliked it. From what I gather, the big complaint is that it does too much, a common Marvel movie complaint. That, rather than telling us a story and letting his hang out with characters we like, it also tries to cram in wider Marvel Cinematic Universe things, which cramp the ability to let the story flow organically and let us have fun with the good characters. That there seem to be scenes that are all Taika Waititi, and scenes that are all Marvel.

The last Thor was a breath of fresh air, so I'll watch this one, but I don't expect it to be as much fun if it also has to do broader heavy lifting.

I bet about 50% of that loss is due to summertime and people going back out and or to work after the worst of the pandemic has hopefully blown over.
