The Sims 4 Adding Sexual Orientation [Jul 15, 2022, 6:51 pm ET] – Share – Viewing Comments
EA announces plans to update the Create a Sim process in The Sims 4
with a new Sexual Orientation feature. The post discusses the upcoming change,
saying, "Between this update and the recent pronouns update, we’re taking
several strides forward into being a game that respects and celebrates the
nuance and color of everyday life." Word is: "we are committed to continuing to
improve our representation of the LGBTQIA+ community." On a related note,
GamesRadar+ reports on indications that World of Warcraft Dragonflight
is "un-gendering" character creation. This is based on datamined information,
and has not been announced. Back to the update for The Sims 4, it includes
details on efforts to get this right:
Authenticity is a point that often comes up in regards to features like this, and rightly so. As such I’ll try to peel the curtain back a bit and speak to our efforts in making sure we got this right. Many members of the team, myself included, are part of the LGBTQIA+ community. That said, each one of us on the team represents only a narrow slice of lived experiences. As such we’ve worked extensively with GLAAD and the It Gets Better Project to ensure that we’ve captured the widest possible range of viewpoints on how to approach this feature in a manner that respects and elevates the community.

It would probably be pretty frustrating to make a gay character and have them keep trying to play for the other team.

Haha, makes sense. The game literally tackles everything else, it seems. It's quite crazy how much they've added, from what I've seen. I'm pretty sure you can make a man that can get pregnant even, unless that's mod-related.
I don't get the WoW un-gendering though. This whole thing seems to be getting blown out of proportion lately, with games.

I never played WoW but I assume instead of choosing man/woman, you just choose body type. It shouldn't be controversial or anything, since 'body type' is objectively a more accurate label anyway.

Older game but this seems long overdue, especially given the type of game it is.

It's funny. I'm someone who has always been fine with gays, bisexuals and transgenders. Not one issue with them. Zerooooooo. Yet now I'm probably a bigot and of course somehow a racist etc etc because I draw the line at the above, and ABCDEFGHIJKLMNO+ is the product of attention seeking adolescents that should've been explained how the world works, instead of everyone rolling over because the confused bisexual kid wants to call themselves pansexual because of their personal quest to be special.

Roflol 🤣 Not too long ago, this comment would've been met with ill-concealed laughter, but today even the thinking people have been beaten into allowing this bullshit without pushing back, afraid of being called a bigot or whatnot for simply believing one of the most fundamental biological truths that there is such a thing as males and females.
