There was a little excitement yesterday as I completed a walk with Adler, our
neighbor's dog. Sandra did not come with us because she's got a sore paw. But
having only one dog to wrangle turned out to be lucky, as another neighbor's dog got
free and went after Adler. This was quite a circus. She was getting out of her
car while holding the leash, and when her dog saw Adler, he managed to pull her
out of the car, yank her to the ground, and break loose in the blink of an eye.
He started nipping at Adler's backside but since I had a free hand, I was able
to grab his collar. This dog and I were not previously acquainted, but he was a
good enough boy to know that people are off the menu. So he did turn and mouth
at my hand, but left all my fingers intact. This was actually good news for him,
because my Plan B for loose dog attacks is to grab them by the tail and do a
hammer toss (don't think I'm exaggerating, I've done it before, and would do it
again in a heartbeat). The woman whose dog got loose was mortified, but I'm told
she's never been able to properly control her dog, so apparently I was the only
one surprised by the incident. Anyway, there are lots of lessons here for dog
owners: First, learn to control your dog. Second, have a plan if you experience
such an attack. Third, if someone else is walking your dog, make sure they're
well-versed in the first two lessons.

When I was small child my parents tried to get my sisters and I interested in stamp and coin collecting. They bought us the annual sets the government sold. I did develop a slight interest in coin collection, but the stamps definitely didn't "stick".

Wow, he finally bent under the pressure. I thought he was more Trump like, unable/unwilling to acknowledge the reality around him.
It will be interesting to see how history gets written about him. How much blame he gets for Brexit, I suspect he get more blame than he deserves. He was just riding the wave. Let's hope this means the Northern Ireland border issues are at least put on pause for a while.

Holy shit, one of my customers got an email from Jose Carrillo. When she opened it up it was The Geek Squad "you owe us $400 please call this number" scam.
So naturally having never heard of The Geek squad, she calls the number. And installs the remote control software. They launched a batch file where they tell her to input $400 for her refund and after they do that they punch in another zero real fast and hit return. Then they cry that they're going to get in trouble for $1600 and that she has she needs to send it back to them.
Luckily she send any money.
I'm amazed how far people will go down these scam roads before alarm bells start going off.
My biggest fear was that they had put a password on her computer and done other nefarious things but they hadn't.

Yeah, they need to start licensing people having pets. Just read in the news yesterday that people surrendering pets this year is up 75%!!! Times get a bit tough and you just abandon your pet? You're a serious piece of shit who shouldn't have one to begin with. And yeah, way too many morons walking dogs that you can see have zero training. Worse still taking them to unqualified "trainers" - of which there are way too many. My neighbors - who have since moved thank fucking god - had a beautiful dog they put a shock collar on because they didn't want him barking. It's wrong on so many levels and made me absolutely furious. I told them, that's not how you do it, and it's bad for the dog. They'd argue that's what their "trainer" told them to do. Un-fucking-real.
My big 80lb hound is a scaredy cat because of similar instances. At our last apartment some dumbfuck let his little dog pull up to us on a walk seeming all friendly-like and then the little rat just starts attacking my (much bigger) hound. Now he's scared of meeting new dogs. And the one time we went to a dog park some nutjob came in with a bigass German Shepard and this ditzy woman's uncontrollable dog that was already there got into a serious tiff with it.
