Capcom Fighting Collection Released [Jun 24, 2022, 6:50 pm ET] – Share – Viewing Comments
Capcom announces the release of
Capcom Fighting Collection
for PC via
Steam and consoles. This bundles 10 of the most popular arcade fighting
games in the company's illustrious history (though two of the games are Japanese
versions). Those who buy a copy of the anthology before September 2nd will
receive additional early-purchase bonuses. Word is: "A wide variety of titles
are included from iconic series such as Street Fighter and Darkstalkers,
Cyberbots, and the first home console port of Red Earth! And of course, all
titles support online play! This is the perfect collection for both arcade
veterans who remember the titles, and those who want to get into them for the
first time!" Here's the list of included games:

$40 for a rom package, remixed tracks, and some background art. Never change Capcom.

I watched a YouTube review of this one. They highlighted things like you can switch from one game to another in 20 seconds, configure the games to skip the loading screen, rom versions displayed. It’s enough that I’d rather play this on my custom arcade than lookup the roms individually. If publishers put in effort these collections have an audience.
I mean I agree with you to an extent - but the fact all the Darkstalkers games are here is a big get for many people. And Red Earth alone is a big one for many many people. $40 is a bit much for what this is (a rom collection as you called it, which is pretty accurate) but at least they didn't go full price on it. I guess?
