It definitely has silliness, and great action, but also delves deeply into themes like divorce, suicide, work life balance, life choices, failure, family relationships, and a bunch of other things. It has a deep emotional core. It's amazing in how it balances all of these things while remaining coherent and entertaining.

Imagine a United States where almost every state had its own native tongue and unique culture. Given how much more homogeneous the US is and how much trouble we have getting things done, it's amazing India is a nation at all.

As one of the handful of us here with Steam Decks, I've been posting my thoughts a bit. I've had a crazy travel month, spending I think 80 total hours in June in the air, so I've had a lot of opportunity to play the Deck.

But I'm going to focus on Batman: Arkham Origins instead. I read this review, which eviscerates it. First, can't believe it's 9 years old, I would have guessed 5-6 tops. Second, the game is better than this review states, but the review is right that it's callous and soulless and so much of it makes no sense. You do the exact same things you did in other games, finding the same hardware you refind in games set much later. You meet a ton of people for the first time, weirdly. And there's very little new gameplay-wise. You start to feel how rickety the seams are. The crime investigations, which I adored in the first, feel like you have no control or thought needed, just connect dot 1 to dot 2 to dot 3 mindlessly. Seeing the animation for the explosive gel every time makes me want to shoot myself. Crossing the bridge is incredibly unpleasant. Just navigating the city itself is a bit of a chore. A city that has no life other than thugs, which made sense in Arkham City, but makes none here. But the core nugget of being Batman and beating people up is a blast. Even that is worse. I do every predator by dangling off of gargoyles, never needing to do anything else, such as grates. Knife bad guys ruin the flow in a not very fun way.

Can't wait to see what Rocksteady does, because I want more, and will finish this, but am losing some patience.

Watched the first episode of " Dark Winds" and noticed in the opening credits it says 'in association with Robert Redford and George RR Martin.' That George guy has got a lot of time on his hands.
Series started off good.

How is that nightmare-inducing? It looks like a bi-pedal Mr. Snuffleupagus made of foam darts.
