My current PC is down, and I haven't had time to try and fix it, so getting it running also is a factor in the timing.jdreyer wrote on May 19, 2022, 23:30:RedEye9 wrote on May 19, 2022, 20:56:5800X3D costs the same as the 5800x, while running half the games faster, especially games I'm interested in, like flight sims. What's your reasoning to go with the 5800x? What's the expected performance boost with Zen 4? Will it run FTL in 4k?jdreyer wrote on May 19, 2022, 19:50:I would wait or buy the 5800x unless you're desperate for that very specialized processor that will only give you gains in some games. So plunk down for a AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D next month and build a new system, or wait until fall and buy a Zen 4?
The 5800X is around $300 now, you'd have to be a sucker to pay MSRP for an 18-month-old CPU. Plus the biggest gains from the X3D (10-20%) are at 1080p, the benchmarks show very little difference at 4K. IMO it's a waste of money until further down the road when it also has its price slashed, and even then only for older AM4 systems where the CPU upgrade would be a cost-effective alternative to re-building around Zen 4. If you've been waiting to put together a brand new rig, might as well wait a few more months to see what happens. Worst case, you just go with Zen 3 instead for even cheaper than it is now.

I hope all of our TX, LA, and other southern Bluesers have prepped for storm season with lots of batteries, bottled water, and non-perishable food. In addition, might want to pack a go-bag in case things get really gnarly.

As prescient as Kubrick’s opus was in many ways, it ultimately failed to foresee that turn-of-the-millennia Americans would be less interested in space travel than they were in who won Survivor.
The film also predicted that by 2022 New York City would have 40 million people living in it.

But I was on two short flights this past week and decided to try out Alan Wake, and instead, I have a mini review of that - I don't think I've ever played a game that seems to disrespect players more than Alan Wake.
So would you not recommend it? After having played Control, and playing it again on Geforce Now with max settings, I am looking for another Remedy game. I already own two Alan Wake games, one might be an expansion. I think I played it briefly when I bought it but don't remember much.
